Welcome to Amoka House!

Emily Caygill —

Tēnā koutou! Amoka House consists of the Year 7 classes, Rooms 10, 11, and 12. Teaching in those classes are Miss Pearce, Ms Caygill and Mrs Edge respectively. Mr Brown is a specialist science teacher at Heaton but also helps support Amoka, and Mrs Earl teaches in Room 11 on Thursdays when Mrs Edge works on supporting all of the Year 7s as the Year 7 coordinator.

Amoka is a Ngāi Tahu name for the mighty tōtara tree, which is endemic in our part of Ōtautahi Christchurch. Our house colour is red like the beautiful amoka wood.

We are really enjoying getting to know each other through a variety of games and activities and are looking forward to our upcoming sailing and orienteering activity days.
