The vision of the New Zealand Curriculum is for our young people to be confident, connected, actively involved, lifelong learners. The purpose of reporting is to share information about a child’s learning, progress, and achievement towards this vision in ways that support further learning.

Communicating clear, dependable information about progress and achievement in a timely manner, provides a basis for building a strong partnership between the student, teacher, parents and whānau to support learning and improve student outcomes.

We recognise that for each child’s ongoing learning and success, our connections with parents and whānau are essential. At Heaton, we are committed to a learner-centred relationship and as such, it is our intention to share a range of information with you from across the New Zealand Curriculum, in a variety of ways.

Linc-ed

The platform we use to achieve this is Linc-ed, an online electronic reporting portal. We are in the second year of implementation with this platform. It allows teachers, parents, and students access to learning achievement in an online environment that is secure, easy, and effective. The learning report is designed to build year on year so that over time you will have access to comments, learning assessments, images, video and helpful resources all in one place.

Learning Posts

Throughout the year, teachers will share regular learning posts of tasks related to current teaching and learning from across the curriculum. These will be supported by teacher and peer feedback and student self-reflection to guide future learning. Over the last week, you would have received learning posts from your child’s class teacher.

Achievement Level - mathematics, reading and writing

Twice a year (mid and end of the year), teachers will share your child’s current achievement level for mathematics, reading and writing with the next steps for learning. Learning conferences provide an opportunity for further elaboration.

Face to Face Communication

Online content will be supported by face to face learning conferences, twice yearly involving parents, students and teachers. This is an excellent time to discuss your child’s learning journey, social development and to set future goals. If you have any queries or concerns about your child at other times, please communicate with your child's teacher.

What do I have to do as a parent?

• Please ensure the school office has the current email addresses for caregiver 1 and 2. Each parent will be able to independently access their child’s account if they have registered their Linc-ed account and password details.

• Register your Linc-ed account and customise your password by following the instructions below.

Step 1

Visit https://heaton.linc-ed.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

Step 2

Your username is the email address that you have previously shared with the school. Enter your email and then click Get New Password.

Step 3

An email will be sent to you containing a link for you to click on. The link will take you to a page where you will see your new password. If you choose to personalise this, you can delete the generated password and enter your own strong, secure password.

Step 4

Enjoy reading, viewing and listening to your child’s learning. If you do not have access to a digital device you are welcome to come into the office to use a school computer.
