Lansdowne Camp 2021

Emily Caygill —

This year for Year 8 camp, we went to Waipara Adventure Centre. While we were there, we learned lots of new skills and made so many new friendships along the way.

There were lots of very fun and exciting activities that made us work together and think outside of the box. Some of our favourite activities included: abseiling, “faulty towers”, raft building and kayaking. These activities were so much fun and allowed us to work together with new people and get out of our comfort zones.

There were also other activities we participated in, like a quiz night, silent dinner, and a movie/games night. These nights really were so much fun and without them camp would not have been the same. Silent dinner was definitely a challenge, especially since loads of us had so many things to talk about but it was really cool to see what people had written down on their piece of paper to communicate with their friends.

The meals at camp were delicious. The first night we had lamb and vegetables and chocolate cake for dessert. The next night we had butter chicken and vegetables, and cheesecake.

Without the helpers who participated in camp we wouldn't have been able to make this camp possible. Sue (the chef), Grace (one of the instructors), and Mrs Edge are all people who helped so much to make our camp fun and awesome. A special thanks to our parent helpers because they all took time away from home to come and support us to make sure our camp would be one we wouldn’t forget.

Thank you all for making this camp possible!
