Drug Changes
We have a few changes to what we have in the shelves this season, Lis from the Winton clinic goes through what's available.
Each season means our supplies change slightly. We endeavor to be consistent, and to have the drugs you need for when your animals need them. We also take into consideration sustainability and can be hit with curveballs (global pandemics).
You may see labels changing sometimes, but this is part of us keeping that consistent supply chain. Our retail staff will be the frontline in this, and their constant training keeps them up to speed. So after your KeyVet consult this year, our teams will be busy collaborating to make up your new Restricted Veterinary Medicine Drug Charts to display in your sheds. You may notice some changes:
- Purple Spray – we may not have the “same one you normally have” and the packaging can change throughout the season, but the contents work the same.
- Butocin – Stronger than Oxytocin, so please check with your KeyVet about the correct dosage (also on the label).
- Metacam 40 – this is double the strength, but not double the price. Doses need to be adapted to allow for the extra strength but please consult your KeyVet. Available in 50ml and 100ml bottles. (Our normal Metcam is still available.)
As always, these changes can be confusing, especially when we have enough happening on farm as it is. If you have any questions, please get in touch. Our retail teams are experienced in these seasonal changes and can guide you through this.
Are you signed up for our on-farm delivery service yet? We can bring your products to you, which can be vital in the Spring. Call us on 0800 VETSOUTH and we can sign your farm up.
