Standing up against bullying - Pink Shirt Day!

Pink Short day began in Canada in 2007 when two students took a stand against homophobic bullying, after a peer was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. In Aotearoa, Pink Shirt Day works to create safer schools, workplaces, communities and whānau where everyone feels valued and respected.

Pink Shirt Day saw HGHS students unite against bullying, with a special pink-themed civvies day. It was awesome to see so many girls and teachers supporting the cause!

The Student Council kicked off the day by sticking kind messages and fun challenges on every locker, eliciting plenty of smiles (and the occasional laugh).

At lunchtime, karaoke and music set the tone while spot prizes were handed out for the best pink outfits! All proceeds will go to the Pink Shirt Day charity, which is working to stop bullying and promote inclusivity.
