On 22 April, HGHS student Javana Ratana won the 60kg NZ Youth Boxing title, held in Auckland.

The commitment required to achieve at this level is demanding. Her training regime consists of three sessions sparring in the boxing ring, and two strength and conditioning sessions per week. 

Javana's title qualifies her to fight in the Australian 60 kg championship in August.

From there, her focus will be on the National Golden Gloves event at the end of the year.
