Teaching and Learning Update

Suzie Brace —

As the school year comes to a close, significant milestones are occurring across year levels, with students preparing for important exams, completing assessments, and transitioning to new stages of their education.

Junior students underwent Placement Exams determining their academic placement for next year. These exams help tailor their learning experience, ensuring they are placed in classes that match their abilities. Additionally, students completed Progressive Achievement Tests (PATs), which assess their progress in core subjects and provide valuable insights into their academic development.

Extension Year 9 and 10 students took part in Ignition Day, a day dedicated to ethical reasoning. Through discussions and activities, students explored complex moral questions, honing their critical thinking skills and learning to consider different perspectives on issues such as justice and responsibility.

Incoming Year 9 students for 2025 have completed Entrance Testing as part of their transition into the school. These tests help the school understand students’ strengths and areas for growth, ensuring they are placed in the appropriate learning environment to thrive from the start.
