The end of Term 1 was a busy two weeks of competition for Pippa Mihaka in Te Matau-a-Māui, the Hawkes Bay.

Pippa competed at the NZ Open Swimming Championships, which also doubled as the NZ Olympic trials. The following week she also challenged herself at the NZ Age Group Championships.

NZ Open Women's:

4th 200m Backstroke

7th 100m Backstroke

8th 50m Backstroke

NZ Age Group Champs:

1st 200m backstroke 16yr Girls

1st 100m backstroke 16yr Girls

2nd 50m backstroke 16yr Girls

Pippa also gained two national standard silver times for the Swimming New Zealand National Age Programme. Her 200 backstroke time at the age group champs was the fastest of all age groups, including the 17-18 Girls. She broke three Waikato age group records and one open women’s record making her the fastest woman to swim the 50 backstroke from the Waikato to date.

What an amazing achievement this is, well done Pippa!
