MacDiarmid House

Ally White —

MacDiarmid House shows awesome teamwork, whanaungatanga and grit in Term One activities.

It has been a busy start to the school year for MacDiarmid House; Allex Fletcher and Tayla Ryburn have captained the House with great enthusiasm, positivity and energy!

The Year 9s and 13s have been building strong relationships through various activities in the Connections Programme. The Newspaper Fashion Show and Chalk Art have generated a wonderful display of artistic talent and creativity, while our competitive streak has shone through in Capture the Flag and the Scavenger Hunt. We are looking forward to seeing the finished Whānau group walls in Week 11.

Lots of green accessories were on display as the Year 9s and 10s represented MacDiarmid in the Junior Athletics Standards Day. Events included javelin, shot put, high jump and the 100-metre sprint. It was fantastic to see everyone’s determination to earn points for their House by giving each activity a go before racking up the bonus points from keeping our House area clean and tidy. A particular highlight was the ‘100 metres your way race’ where participants cartwheeled, skipped and piggybacked their way to the finish line.

We are looking forward to the House Leader Amazing Race in Week 11, as well as the chance to see all year groups out in force for cross country.
