BOT Update

BOT Secretary —

The Board wishes to express its thanks to the staff, students and community for their ongoing patience while navigating the continuing impacts of Delta.

At the May meeting, the Board welcomed the Heads of Faculty for Arts, Technology, Learning Support, Business Studies and Languages. It was again wonderful to hear from these Departments and to gain an understanding of what they are doing within our school. The presentations were very passionate, and it was good to hear strategies for tackling disparity and raising achievement in order to encourage all of our students to aim for excellence.

The Hepburn building is open for business again and it is so nice to see students and teachers back utilising this modernised space. There has been ongoing work happening on the Redevelopment Project, and a community event is planned within the next two months to enable consultation with whānau, community, community leaders and the MOE. More information will be available in the coming weeks.

By the end of May the Annual Review 2021 will have been checked and approved by the Board and will be lodged with the MOE. Every year it is a big undertaking to get this MOE reporting completed, audited and signed off and the Board would like to acknowledge the hard work put in by all involved.

A reminder that Board Elections are being held this year on 7th September 2022. In the lead up to this Election, there will be a formal call for nominations in July. If you or someone you know is interested in being nominated for the Election, please let the Board Secretary know via email botsecretary@hghs.school.nz.
