Wicked Wednesdays Have Begun!

Emma Thien —

As a way to ensure that the Arts Faculty still gets the opportunity to showcase the talents of each individual department, the 2022 Arts Council has come up with the "Wicked Wednesday" initiative.

Wicked Wednesdays will occur regularly over the course of the school year, where various performances and showcases from each arts department will be put on display. This provides an opportunity for our students to get a glimpse of what HGHS’ Arts Faculty has to offer, and also ensures that the hard work of our students does not go unnoticed.

In Week 10, we kicked off our first Wicked Wednesday of the year with a daring dance performance, put together by our incredible Dance Prefect, Ava McMorran. Ava, along with the Dance Committee, put together several awesome dance performances ranging in styles from contemporary to hip hop, with roughly 20 dancers involved!

Ava was extremely happy with the outcome of the event, “It gave students and group leaders the opportunity to show off their skills in a school environment rather than just at competitions,” she said.

These incredibly talented dancers entertained a huge crowd of students, who “hyped up” each performance, in what was a very successful start to our Wicked Wednesday initiative. “I’m very excited to see an improvement in student involvement in all of the arts through Wicked Wednesday showcases,” said Dance Prefect Ava McMorran.
