Kiera shines as a soloist with Youth Orchestra Waikato

Victoria Trenwith —

Year 13 student Kiera Sullivan is featuring as principal cellist and soloist in an upcoming performance with Youth Orchestra Waikato as part of the Cambridge Autumn Festival.

Kiera Sullivan is a Year 13 student at Hamilton Girls' High School, and she is currently preparing to take the stage as a soloist and principal cellist with Youth Orchestra Waikato. The orchestra is performing a programme of music entitled "Journeys" on Sunday 2nd April at 3pm in the Cambridge Town Hall. Kiera is enjoying the challenge of learning and preparing Camille Saint-Saëns acclaimed Allegro Appassionato for Cello and Orchestra.

Kiera says "I'm enjoying the challenge of how this music is pushing me to play better. I love the contrast between the dramatic and energetic passages, and the more melodic, reflective phrases." She goes on to say "I love playing the cello - playing makes me feel uplifted and feeds my soul."

Congratulations Kiera on this outstanding achievement, we know you will perform magnificently!
