Annah Stretton
A New Zealand business that goes beyond just selling clothing.
‘Annah Stretton’ clothing is more than just clothes. With the slogan ‘life changing clothes’, Stretton's clothing line breaks barriers for women and disadvantaged people with dreams of entrepreneurship. Annah Stretton is a Kiwi born businesswoman who is working to empower ‘Any Woman, Anywhere’. She has established three unique charities, RAW, Kia Puāwai and HopeFish, that provide help for those less represented in the business community.
RAW, also known as Reclaim Another Woman, is about “transforming a life of crime into a life of promise”. This charity aims to end the cycle of poverty, domestic violence, crime, sexual abuse, under-education and inequality that exists for woman. RAW provides accommodation for these disadvantaged women, and mentors to help them build a successful life.
Kia Puāwai’s aim is to ‘redefine the road to better health’ for all New Zealanders, focusing on nutrition, mind management and movement. The charity has made a ‘wellbeing journey’ programme for Kiwis who want to redefine their road to better health. Lastly, the charity HopeFish took its inspiration from the quote: “Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.” To this they have added “but teach a woman to fish, everyone eats for a lifetime.” The charity aims to help wāhine and their tamariki become self-sufficient - and independent, leaving them with positive futures.
