Service Awards Scheme 2022

Toti West —

Student leaders have always been integral to the opportunities our school offers, and now we have a scheme to show our appreciation for them.

The Service Awards Scheme endeavours to acknowledge students who have given extraordinary service to HGHS and the community. As the graphics explain, awards are given for service to particular areas of the school, and a culmination of hours sees our students awarded with overall Bronze, Silver and Gold awards.

To participate, simply purchase a Service Awards Scheme booklet from the uniform shop for $2, get a staff member or adult (e.g. manager) to sign off the hours, then report to the Service Council to register these hours.

Register your hours every day 6 in the Sports Department during whānau class time.

Take note that your contributions will also go towards House Points for the House Competitions!

Hours can be accrued for a number of different service activities, including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Sports coaching
  • Tutoring of artistic pursuits e.g. dance
  • Mentoring
  • Voluntary performances
  • Service initiatives
  • Volunteer work

The scheme will be managed by our Service Council of Prefects, with Matua Toti West providing oversight. We look forward to our students participating in this meaningful initiative.
