Arts Awards Evening 2022

Hamish Berkers —

A celebration of art at our kura. This evening was a chance to celebrate the immense artistic talent our ākonga bring to HGHS.

The Arts Awards Evening was held on Tuesday the 25th October, in Ngā Puāwaitanga. The evening was filled with a range of performances showcasing the arts at HGHS: Pasifika Performance, Media Studies and AV, Multicultural, Debating, Drama, Dance, Visual Arts, Kapa Haka, and Music.

The evening concluded with the announcement of two major arts awards, the first being Dux Artium. The Dux Artium award recognises excellence across the co-curricular arts, and was awarded to Ngamihi Lyndon. The second, the Premier Service to The Arts Award Poipoia Kia Puāwai recognises Outstanding Contribution to Hamilton Girls’ High School Arts and Culture, and was awarded to Emma Thien.

A massive thank you to our Arts Coordinator Margot Rawlings, Head of Art Faculty Margie Wynne-Jones, Matua Toti West, and Arts Captain Emma Thien for all the planning and work put into the night.
