Return of the Alumni

Hamish Berkers —

This month's return of the Alumni focuses on Kerry Rattray, one of our talented teachers in the Science Department who graduated from HGHS in 1989.

Name:

Kerry Rattray nee Whitmore

Your last year at HGHS:

1989

What is it that you currently do outside of school?

Drive my kids everywhere, go running slowly and play badminton.

What was your favourite thing about being a student at HGHS?

Having opportunities to experience success, in sports and in the classroom.

What was your greatest accomplishment at school as a student and why?

Sport, coming 2nd in the 800m in the North Island Champs in 7th Form and getting an A bursary overall due to doing well in Geography (thanks Mrs Weir).

What do you enjoy most about being a staff member at HGHS?

Helping students experience success and making them feel that I care about them as a person and that I support their learning.

What advice would you give to current students?

Be true to yourself and who you are. Don't change to be someone you are not for somebody else.
