True beauty lies within.

If you start to describe me I hope the first word that you use is not pretty,

Or beautiful, or skinny, or attractive or any word which describes my body,

As a woman, it is assumed I would take that as a compliment,

But as a woman, I only hope that you would see me for much more than just pretty.

I want to be smart and fierce and athletic and strong,

I want to be more than just a pretty face or a curvy waist or a pleasure to your eye,

Society has conditioned us as women to settle for pretty,

But I will not let that silence all the beauty within me.
