Cultivating The Culture of our Kura: Reflecting on 2024

Victoria Trenwith —

As the year draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the rich and vibrant nature of our school culture.

Our greatest strength is our diversity, and we have had a year filled with growth, collaboration, and a shared commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

One of the greatest highlights of the last term of the year has been our unwavering focus on celebrating success. From academic achievements to sporting triumphs and artistic and cultural endeavours, we have taken every opportunity to acknowledge and applaud the hard work and dedication of our ākonga. These celebrations not only boost individual confidence but also create a sense of community and shared purpose.

Looking back, I am incredibly proud of the way our school community has come together to support one another. Whether it's through collaborative projects, mentoring programs, or simply offering a helping hand, we have demonstrated the power of collective effort. This sense of unity has been instrumental in creating a positive and supportive atmosphere where all members of our wider school community feel valued and empowered.

As we look ahead and contemplate embarking on a new year, I encourage us all to continue building upon the strong foundation we have established. Let us strive to be our best selves, both individually and collectively. By embracing our differences, fostering empathy, and practising kindness, we can create a school culture where everyone feels a sense of belonging and can thrive.

In the words of Nelson Mandela, "It always seems impossible until it's done." Let us approach the challenges and opportunities ahead with optimism and determination, knowing that together, we can achieve great things.

I wish you and your whānau all the best for the festive season ahead!
