Showquest Spectacular! HGHS Year 9 Students Shine Bright

Victoria Trenwith —

Our Year 9s dazzled us with their incredible talent and creativity during our three-day Showquest extravaganza in Week 8 of Term 4!

The theme, “Embracing & Celebrating Our Diversity,” inspired our students to create truly unique and inspiring performances.

From Wednesday to Friday, our talented ākonga worked tirelessly to bring their visions to life. Each group, representing their House, took on the challenge of crafting a 3-5 minute performance that incorporated a diverse range of elements, including:

  • a plotline and script

  • a dance sequence

  • creative use of media and video

  • inclusion of Te Ao Māori

… and much more!

To ensure that every performance was polished to perfection, our students had the opportunity to attend specialised workshops. These workshops covered everything from choreography and scriptwriting to costume design and directing & producing.

The final performances were nothing short of spectacular! Each group showcased their individuality and talent, leaving the audience entertained. It was heartening to see the level of dedication, teamwork, and creativity that our Year 9s brought to the stage.

A huge congratulations to all the students involved in this year’s Showquest! Your hard work and passion made this event fun and successful. Special thanks must also go to the team of teachers who were motivators and activators for our rangatahi for the duration of the programme.
