Wicked Wednesday: HGHS Art Gallery

Emma James —

As the 2022 HGHS visual arts Prefect, my goal for this year is to increase the recognition of our talented visual artists within our school community and this gallery of works truly displayed that talent.

We received an overwhelming number of pieces, ranging from photography and sculpture to digital art and printmaking, with submissions across all years. This wide range of works was then displayed on may the 12th as part of the art councils' Wicked Wednesday program.

The engagement and support from the wider school community were overwhelming! we were swamped with students coming to view the works and vote for their favourite pieces for the People's Choice Award. The standard of work was extremely high so it came down to a small number of votes, however, I am proud to announce that the people's choice was piece 34 "Persephone", a watercolour composition by the talented Chloe Sutherland.

A big thank you to Gordon Harris Art Supplies for sponsoring this award and congratulations to all of the talented artists that submitted their works: Isabel Paul, Clarizze Diviana, Quazzandrav Gines, Emma James, Mishka Caguiat, Johanna Vreede, Alice Mccarthny, Meadow Park, Ella Towgood, Jordan Devoy, Lucy Jamieson, Eva Ah Mu, Lucy Downing, Holy Hilton, Kaylee Janphanic, Brooklyn Kahuroa, Tahlia-Aja Young, Phyu Chit, Zara Graham, Jamie Godsiff, Sasha Lee, Ayesha Siddiqa, Kyla George, Chloe Sutherland.
