The Grand Finale!

Emma Thien —

On Thursday the 7th of July, the top talents of HGHS and HBHS came together and put on an incredible show in front of a packed audience.

Talent Quest Combined HGHS/HBHS Grand Final was a huge success, with a packed crowd coming to watch ten awe-inspiring acts. From a seven-piece reggae band to our very own Rivalry Hip Hop Dance Crew, the night was filled with top-notch entertainment.

We would also like to acknowledge two HBHS finalists, Udula and Danidu Bandara, who could not make the event. We would have loved to see what they had prepared!

However, even with little hiccups such as that along the way, the night ran smoothly and everyone had a blast. The crazy talent we saw from each school was unmatched, including the talent in a surprise prefect performance!

Throughout the evening, the audience got to form a performance of their own, bringing the mili mili chant to fruition at the end of the night before the top three finalists were awarded.

In third place was classical pianist John Huang, from HBHS. In second place, was HBHS guitarist Dylan Connolly, and in first place, keeping their champion title, was HGHS’ very own Rivalry Hip Hop Dance Crew, who blew everyone out of the park with their incredible performance.

Thanks to everyone who made this night possible and the success that it was, especially to Margot Rawlings, our Arts coordinator; Mr Berkers, head of our tech team; and Matua Toti. We appreciate you!
