2022 was a turning point in secondary school girls rugby union with the inaugural season of the Chiefs Manawa 1st XV Girls Rugby Competition.

The best girls rugby schools in the Chiefs Region played round robin games against each other, culminating in the final in Te Kuiti.

HGHS was pitted against a very strong Sacred Heart New Plymouth team and the collisions were epic. In the end HGHS ran out winners 27 - 10 and were crowned Champions. It was a great way to cap off the inaugural season and we look forward to 2023.
