Geography Students represent HGHS at the New Zealand Planning Institute Seminar
On Wednesday 21st March, three Geography students represented the school at the New Zealand Planning Institute Seminar at Claudelands Arena.
This day involved learning about what a career in town planning can offer and how it is a job where you can make a difference in your community and the wider world. Talks from speakers from the University of Waikato and also current planners helped students get a sneak peek into what your day-to-day life could look like as a town planner e.g. from managing coastal erosion for communities in Thames, to designing a whole new neighbourhood such as Peacocke, Hamilton. Furthermore, this day highlighted just how relevant geography is as a subject. Students were able to see how the topics and skills that they learned in class could be applied to the outside world.
