Senior Premier Sevens

Mohini Singh —

Our Senior Premier Team competed in the Open Girls Championship Grade at Condor Sevens on the 30th November - 1st December.

Team spirit was high after winning our pool games except against St Mary's. This meant that we came up against one of our biggest rival schools, Manukura, in the quarter-finals. The team connection was electric and this was reflected in the final score, 22-17 to us! This progressed the team to the nail-biting semi-final against Auckland Girls' Grammar, where we won 21-19, taking us through to the finals.

And wow! What an epic final! Our HGHS Senior Premier team had the last dance on the paddock against Howick College.

After a superb performance, both teams ended up tied at full-time with a score of 24 all, and the game went to Golden Point. Our girls were amazing and left it all out on the field, playing approximately seven minutes of overtime! Howick College scored first and won the Cup, with a final score of 29-24. We finished in 2nd place and won Runner-up Silver Medals - an incredible achievement for our girls!

Four of our girls were selected for the Condor's Tournament team -  Congratulations to Rubi Hart, Libby Kearins-Te Whare, Amber Mundell and Keira Russell. Rubi Hart was also named as the Most Valuable Player of the Girls' Open Championship!

Tēnei te mihi aroha ki ngā Coaches Reuben and Matt for honing the rugby skills for our wāhine. Sincere appreciation to our Principal, Mrs Gordon, and Ms Ferrier from the Sports Department for their support behind the scenes.

Lastly, anei tāku mihi aroha ki ngā whānau, for your amazing support throughout the season.
