Sonninghill Open Day

Toni Solomon —

On Friday 15 March, Sonninghill opened its doors to well over 120 whānau and potential students, which made for an exciting and energised morning.

After a welcome by Ms Gordon and brief introductions from hostel students and staff, morning tea was enjoyed before hostel tours began. These were ably led by our Hostel Head Girl Kaytlen Tamatea-Kepa, and her amazing Executive Council - Caitlin Hull, Rubi Hart, Maddy Mulgrew, and Sahryse Fong. Leah-Maya Davis, Year 9, also did a wonderful job of sharing her experience thus far as a new Sonninghill boarder and HGHS student.

The top three places of interest for our manuhiri on the day included the swimming pool, the senior WJ kitchen and lounge, and of course the dormitories. We received fabulous feedback from those who attended, and would like to express our gratitude to the entire hostel team for helping to make this event such a success. We can’t wait to share our home with all those entering our kāinga in the New Year - bring on 2025!
