Prefect Induction Day

Paige McOnie —

On February 9th our Executive Council had the pleasure of working with the prefects to build and strengthen their leadership skills.

Prefect Induction Day was the perfect chance for our prefects to learn more about themselves and their leadership styles, working together to complete exercises and overcome challenges. The prefects formed strong bonds with each other as they discovered their purpose as leaders in our school.

The day was such a success, new prefects were able to come out of their shells and start preparing for the busy year ahead. "Prefect Day was a super inspiring event that helped to bring our school leaders closer together. My favourite part of the day was when we did an activity requiring us to get into small groups, and talk about the different things holding us back from growing into better leaders. It was reassuring to see through the examples given that many of the girls were thinking in the same way. We were able to talk in small groups about what we  were going to do about these setbacks and we explored ways of overcoming them. This opportunity allowed us to connect with our fellow leaders and talk about things that we may not get time to discuss again throughout the year, and we were able to develop deeper connections with each other because of this." - Milly Jamieson, Business Prefect.

It is this vulnerability and trust in one another that builds a strong, united team of leaders who inspire and uplift not only each other but students school-wide. It was amazing to see the progression throughout the day. We started off with a room full of nervous, excited, passionate students and ended the day with such an interconnected sisterhood. The day could not have gone any better, it was absolutely brilliant. We are incredibly grateful for the team of prefects that we have this year and look forward to seeing what they will achieve.
