Robyn Ferrier —

Year 11 swimmer, Pippa Mihaka, has been named as one of the 40 swimmers who have met the criteria to trial for Youth Commonwealth Games in Trinidad and Tobago later this year.

Pippa has qualified for the National Age Group Swimming Championships, which is being held in Hawkes Bay in April 2023. At this event, Pippa will aim to qualify for the Youth Commonwealth Games which will take place in Trinidad and Tobago in August 2023.

In December 2022, Pippa headed to Australia to compete in the Queensland State Championships for her first international swimming meet. On the first day of the meet, Pippa was brought into the senior relay team which won gold in the 200m Individual Medley Relay! Other results saw her make finals and place top 5 for 50m, 100m, and 200m backstroke for her age group. She also made the final for the open women’s 200m backstroke placing 9th.

We are very proud of Pippa and wish her all the best for her upcoming trial!
