The show must go on…

Margot Rawlings —

Please know that HGHS will ensure that all students involved in our Arts and Cultural curriculum, clubs and activities will have real and meaningful opportunities to exhibit and perform for their peers and their whānau in 2022.

Covid 19 has been a huge disruptor for the Arts in the past two years. Our school, and those organisations that run associated school events, have had to work around lockdowns and alert levels. Postponing and rescheduling, waiting for the next announcement from event organisers and the Government, continuing to practise and perfect, hoping for the opportunity. And still our hardworking students and teachers have been bitterly disappointed to find that their events have eventually had to be cancelled.

So, where we can not participate in the traditional events and competitions, we at HGHS are saying, “no more disappointment”. We are determined to find ways to celebrate our students’ hard work which are not reliant on "traffic lights" and venue attendee numbers. Whānau will get to see the performances and exhibitions in ways that are creative and new.

We ask for your help in this endeavour. Embrace the shift and support our efforts to create new opportunities. Encourage your girls to do the same. "Different" will not mean "less", it might even be better!
