As part of the Atrium refresh, the grand piano, gifted to our kura by The Old Girls' Association has been returned to the Atrium.

Robyn De Pledge was an ex-principal and an outstanding Board Of Trustees Chair. She was generous with her time and a very loyal and supportive friend of the school.

Robyn De Pledge was the Foundation Chairperson of Hamilton Girls' High School's Board of Trustees from 1981 to 1992. The Old Girls' Association raised the money to purchase the piano in memory of Robin. Three of her daughters attended Hamilton Girls' - Jill, Suzy and Linda. Linda played Rizzo in the first school production of Grease. Robyn's son is the NZ concert pianist, Stephen De Pledge, who is a lecturer at Auckland University. He played the piano at the ceremony when it was given to the school, and has played it on occasion since. 

Ruby Nyika, who played Frenchie in the most recent production of Grease at Hamilton Girls' High in 2016, is Robyn De Pledge's granddaughter. Ruby's brother, boxer David Nyika, Hamilton Boys' High old boy, Olympic bronze medallist and two-time Commonwealth Games champion, is Robyn's grandson.

Regular musical performances are being planned for the Atrium once the refresh has been completed.
