Ashleigh competed at the New Zealand Secondary Schools open water swimming event in Mount Maunganui on Saturday 2nd April and placed 3rd in the Aquaknights 500m swim.

Recently recovering from Covid-19, Ashleigh took to the water to compete in the 500m open water swimming race. She placed 3rd in the Aquaknight 500m with a time of 7min 08 sec, and 5th overall in NZSS for the 500m.

Aquaknight is one of four swimming zones in NZ, covering Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Taranaki and Hawkes Bay.

A very tough race, especially post covid! Although Ashleigh felt like if she had been fully recovered she would have had a better race time, she was still happy with the time she got. We are very proud of Ashleigh and her amazing efforts!
