NZSS Trampolining Championships

Robyn Ferrier —

Kaylee Cartwright competed in the NZSS Trampolining Championships earlier this year.

In only her second year of competitive trampolining at a National level, Kaylee went on to receive a bronze medal in the 13-14 year old age group! 14 weeks prior to this tournament Kaylee broke two bones in her right arm which required surgery. Kaylee has shown amazing mental and physical strength throughout this setback and her club, family and school are exceptionally proud of her.

Fast forward to October, Kaylee represented Waikato at the XP NZ Gymnastics Championships held in Palmerston North - this was her first representative competition. She won the silver medal in the Synchro Trampoline with her teammate, placed 9th overall in the Individual Trampoline and 12th overall in the Double Mini Trampoline. On top of that, Kaylee also won the 'Proficiency Pin' which is awarded to athletes who achieve the Proficiency score at the event. This score is set higher than the qualifying score required to attend the National event, which is a massive achievement for Kaylee, and a first for Waikato Trampoline too!
