Pegasus Cup

Melissa Simmonds —

The Equestrian team had the opportunity to compete in the Pegasus Cup competition at Takapoto Estate in Week 8 and the North Island Secondary Schools Dressage Carnival in Week 9.

This was a great opportunity for the team to get a chance to compete at an upscale venue. Jasmine Rear had a clear round in the 80cm Showjumping, but wasn’t quite fast enough to place, and Liv Clayton-Collis had a clear round in the 70cm with an unlucky pole in the jump off.  It was lovely to see the sportsmanship and camaraderie within the team, and the great horsemanship during the rounds.

On Friday 28th March, two of our talented equestrian riders, Rachael Le Miere and Emma Whitely, competed at the North Island Secondary Schools Dressage Carnival, held at St Peter's School in Cambridge. Rachael and Emma represented Hamilton Girls' as part of a combined team with two riders from Hillcrest High School. Out of 20 teams competing, the team placed fifth! Both of our students rode well, and Rachael placed second in both of her classes! Ka mau te wehi!
