Congratulations to Year 10 student, Pippa Mihaka, on meeting the qualifying standard and being selected for the Swimming NZ National Age Group Programme (13-18 year olds).

Pippa's Hamilton Aquatics coach, Mat, applied on Pippa's behalf after she qualified for the programme in April, with a time of 1:05.43 for the 100 meters backstroke at the NZ Open Champs.

Since being selected for the programme, Pippa has been invited to attend the Tri-Series event in Christchurch on the 9 -11th July. While this event is for National Age Group swimmers only, not all selected athletes are invited to compete. Once invited, swimmers are split into three teams and are then assessed on stroke efficiency, a kick test and team competitions. 

In December, Pippa will compete at the Queensland State Champs, one of Australia's major swimming events.
