Pink Ribbon Day

Sina Onesemo F Toa —

On the 23rd of May, Hamilton Girls’ High School was proud to recognise an important day for many wāhine in Aotearoa, Pink Ribbon Day.

Throughout the week, raffle tickets for a beautiful basket filled with many pink items were sold to students and staff. From pink student essentials to pink snacks, to a recipe book and a special treat for staff, many tickets were sold in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. As well as the raffle basket, we had a lolly jar where students and staff had to guess how many lollies were in the jar. The week was very successful as service prefects walked around the school promoting the baskets and jars.

Pink Ribbon Day is a day not only to bring awareness and recognition to the cause, but to also showcase our support and love for wāhine with breast cancer all around Aotearoa, New Zealand. We were able to make a significant donation to the Breast Cancer Foundation. It may be a small act of service but it is a very important one.
