Headz Up

Freya Kardas —

A leadership day like no other.

We would like to thank the grand Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts at the University of Waikato, as well as the exceptional Waikato Institute of Leadership and Sports Studies (WILSS). As future leaders, we had the opportunity to attend a leadership conference unlike any other. The Headz up programme included motivational talks, networking skills workshops, and entertaining performances. It was an unforgettable day.

We had the opportunity to not only listen and learn throughout the day, but also to share. We learned how to deal with unexpected situations, how to listen to other people's ideas and experiences, and how to share and communicate with others in order to form relationships that benefit one another.

We ended the day on a high note with musical performances from student groups from across the Waikato and Bay of Plenty. I can say confidently that performing 'Perfect' by Ed Sheeran alongside Waikato Diocesan, St John's College, and St Paul's Collegiate was an unforgettable experience. We chose to acknowledge that everyone is perfect in their own way in response to the brief to perform something with a motivational purpose.

As an attendee, I am delighted to have attended the Headz Up 2023 conference.
