Sustainability in action with Ngāti Hauā by Hamilton Girls' High School
Hollie Graham — July 1, 2022
What does it mean to be a Global Citizen?
In Week 8, 15 Year 10 students attended a three day wānanga at the University of Waikato. Students experienced a range of inspirational speakers, undertook challenges and learnt about global citizenship.
The kaupapa of the summit was underpinned by 3 core values.
Whiria (Identity)
Paiheretia (Community)
Rukuhia (Legacy)
The challenge for our young woman was to consider how they as indigenous young people could make a difference on a global scale. On the last day the girls were able to see and experience a sustainability initiative run by NgāRati Haua.
It was a great few days that enabled our students to broaden their thinking and consider issues from a different lens.
