Sakura loving her rugby in Japan!
Former HGHS Student Represents Japan AT RWC 7s

2018 will be remembered for a number of reasons but for Hamilton Girls' High School it was the year Sakura Mizutani arrived.
The Japanese International student decided to make the move to New Zealand to work on her English language skills and also to play rugby. She had a standout first year and showed great improvement moving into her second year and if not for Covid would have returned in 2020. Sakura linked with the Tokyo Sankyu Phoenix Rugby Club and was selected to represent the Japanese Rugby 7s Team. In 2022 she played at the Rugby 7s World Cup and said she was looking forward to playing against some of her former teammates who are now representing New Zealand. Congratulations Sakura, we look forward to following your progress!
