Te Puāwai Festival: Celebrating Dance

Toti WestOctober 6, 2022

The Te Puawai Festival. 1000s of spectators. 100s of performers. Celebrating cultural dance and music.

The Te Puāwai Festival was a huge success and featured the following acts:

  • Acute Angle: The HGHS Barbershop Quartet that won 3rd place at the Barbershop nationals.
  • NZ Swing Latino Dance Group.
  • Tu Malosi: HBHS Pasifika Group.
  • Marewa & Kono: Duet.
  • HGHS Pasifika Performance Group.
  • Jaedyn Randell (old girl of HGHS and voice of Anna on Frozen Disney Reo Māori).
  • Te Maurea Whiritoi: The combined kapa haka group.

The entire evening was full of cultural pride, cheers and celebration. Our audience was treated to a range of talented acts that have experienced both regional and national success. The HGHS Pasifika Performance Group in particular had the opportunity after a 3-year hiatus due to the pandemic. It was a great night for all involved!

Many thanks to our MCs, Emma and Nate, who did a wonderful job front of stage pulling the night together. The mihi continue to HBHS for hosting our night, and the awesome tech team, Mr West and Mr Dent. The night would not have been possible without your support. We hope you enjoy the video of the night created by Mr Berkers.
