Junior Premier Basketball Team Pipped at the Post

A showdown with close rivals Rotorua Girls' was on the cards and the final match lived up to everyone's expectations. HGHS led at the first change, but RGHS fought back to lead by 1 point going into halftime. RGHS managed to increase the lead to 3 points at the final change and this set the scene for an epic final quarter. It was a seesawing affair which saw HGHS trail by 12 at one stage only to claw back to within 4 with 2 minutes to go. With hearts in mouths the final 2 minutes seemed to last an eternity with RGHS running out winners by 5 points. The HGHS girls had given everything in the final quarter and everyone courtside was cheering for both schools during the presentation. The girls' goal for next year is to go one better.
