Junior Debating: Round One

At HGHS we have 12 junior debating teams this year. These teams will compete in 5 rounds of debating against other schools around the Waikato. All teams were required to select band names or artists for their teams this year to spice things up. 

On Thursday 17th March, these Year 9 and 10 teams debated about whether or not public transport should be free. There were some interesting arguments relating to hygiene, cost and pollution.

We had 3 teams come out on top! 

The following teams won their debates: 

Year 9 Novice

HGHS September: Eva Tan, Miché Cloete and Brooklyn-Jade Mark 

HGHS Lin Manuel Miranda: Elizabeth Morgan, Melinda Montante and Alisa Sok 

Year 10 Open 

HGHS Death Grips: Bianca Slomp, Jumana Fouda and Charlie Fourie
