Civvies Day: Giving back to our Community!

Bronte HarcourtMarch 23, 2022

A small donation is a way of giving support to the awesome initiatives of our Service Council.

"Civvies day" is the HGHS name for our "uniform free days". This is in recognition of concerns that the previous term was culturally insensitive. See this video created by our 2021 Prefects that explains this concept. The name “Civvies” originates from the army - it is a shortened version of “civilian clothes”.

There is a Civvies day coming up in Week 10 on Wednesday, April 6th. As a means of managing COVID risk and simplifying things for staff and students, we are moving the Civvies Day Community Donations online.

If you choose to take part in the "uniform free days" you can now make your donation online. You will notice on your account a one-off $6 request to go towards the Student Council Community work/donations "Civvies Day". If your daughter wishes to take part in the Civvies Days organised throughout the year, please ensure you pay the $6 through the Parent Portal or via internet banking.

Thank you for your support of our great community initiatives and enjoy a few days of wearing your "civvies clothes" instead of uniform.
