Senior School Pastoral Update

It is my pleasure and honour to be given the opportunity to be the Pastoral Leader for our senior school. I started at Hamilton Girls’ High in 2006 and have been teaching Science and Biology. Working with students gave me the motivation to apply for a deaning role at our kura. Being involved as a Dean and Head of School for Heads for a number of years has allowed me to share my passion about giving our students their best experience of high school and supporting them as they need it. This new position gives me the ability to focus on priority students as I have more time, and I'm also able to support the Deans in their work with students.

As we are more than half way through Term 1, all students should have their timetables settled and they should be aware of the Achievement Standards they will be working towards in 2022. Each subject should have a course booklet outlining the coverage and students should have access to it via Schoology.

This is such a challenging time for our staff and students as we work in a hybrid learning environment - some students are in school for face-to-face learning and some are isolating for periods of time and accessing their learning online due to Covid-19 protocols. We would expect that our senior students are taking responsibility for their own learning, accessing Schoology and contacting their teachers.

We expect that students are attending classes on site. This is important, not only for classroom learning but for our students to participate in the wider life of the school community.
