Here's how we celebrated IWD at HGHS this year...
Happy International Women’s Day!
International Women's Day (IWD) was celebrated on March 8 this year.
The official IWD theme for 2022 worldwide is all about breaking the bias. As women, how do we break the bias? The IWD campaign asks women to imagine what a bias-free world looks like to them. We are encouraged to work towards creating a world free of stereotypes, discrimination and (gender) inequality. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.
At school, we put up a blank sheet in the quad for students to come share how they break the bias. We asked them to write down any stereotypes they've broken, and ways they are helping to create a more inclusive world.
IWD is all about showcasing and acknowledging the amazing wāhine in our communities. Here is a link to Hamilton Girls' High School's IWD 2022 Video. In this video, some of our amazing students and staff share how they #BreakTheBias.
Together, we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias. How do you break the bias?
