Room 9
This Term Team Tōtara is learning about Informational writing. An information piece of writing is based on facts. Nonfiction writing should show information about a topic. Examples can be found in newspapers. Room 9 brought in some interesting newspaper articles and then rewrote the article about what our amazing life gaurds have been doing during lock down. Check out the two examples below.
HEROS IN RED
The life guards have missed the water but haven't missed helping people.Being in lock down means more food is needed which also means big crowds at supermarkets not being essential workers lifeguards are meant to be at home but instead they are risking their lives to help other people.
In this time they have been going and doing the shopping for elderly and vulnerable plus people who don't have family or friends that can help them out with this.
They run from 7.00am till 7.00pm so we need to give a big thank you to them for breaking their bubbles to save lives.

Life Guards Help
The life guards of Timaru are helping the elderly in Timaru.They are helping people who don't have many friends & family or people who are at high risk to the virus.
The council worked from 7am to 7pm. Cbay workers helped as well. They traveled in two cars to pick up the groceries and drop them off to the people who can't leave their house.
I think they care a lot about other people and if they hadn't been doing this, some people might die because of starvation.
