Term 3, Week 9 Newsletter/Pānui

Amy Logavatu —

Tēnā koutou & happy te wīkī o te reo Māori.

Wow we have some AMAZING talent at Highfield School! Congratulations to all of our tamariki who entered in their class competitions and to our amazing finalists who performed their acts live this afternoon! We are so proud of you all. Ngā mihi nui ki a koe to Mrs Spruce for organising.

Staffing

At the end of this term we will be saying goodbye to Mrs Christine McGeever as she moves to have a very well deserved retirement. Christine is an incredible teacher who shows great care for all of her students as well as this she has had strong pedagogical practice that she has shared with staff. We know she will be incredibly missed. I know you will join me in wishing Christine all the very best.

In Term 4 we will welcome Vicky Mitchell to our team to teach in Room 15 alongside Mrs Lucy Laming.

Mrs Sarah Hutton has won the position of across school teacher for our Kahui Ako (Community of Learning) for Term 4. This means she will be released from the classroom two days a week. On a Wednesday & Thursday Mrs Lucy Laming will be teaching the class.

At the end of this year we will be farewelling Tash Griffin as she relocates to Christchurch to be closer to her kids. Tash is an incredible teacher and leader who will be a great loss to our Highfield whānau. I know you will all agree that Tash has been a huge asset to our team in Rm 7 over the last two years and has completely transformed our inclusive education approach and practice school wide. We wish you all the very best in Christchurch Tash.

Safer School Travel

We ask that you have a chat with your children about crossing unpatrolled areas safely. We continue to have concerns around children crossing over Barnes St. This is a high traffic area. We are working with Wave to look at potential solutions.

Playing on School Grounds

We welcome safe and respectful use of our facilities and grounds.Grounds are available for general use between 3pm and 9pm during school term time.

9am – 9pm weekends, public holidays and school holidays. Our facilities are under video surveillance.

Please note School staff & the Board are not responsible for incidents that happen on site at school after school hours. We do encourage parent/caregiver supervision.
