William Pike

On Saturday we found out that we  had been accepted to the Young Inspiring Explorers Summit and the Young Explorers Worsley Weekend.  Both of these programmes are run by the Christchurch Antarctic Heritage Trust and the William Pike Challenge.  Out of the 200 New Zealand Children who entered, both of us will join 19 others that were lucky enough to be chosen.  The Young Inspiring Explorers Summit is run at the Christchurch Antarctic Centre from the 31st October to 1st November.  Some of the activities you do here will involve looking after the husky's and penguins, discovering out more about Antarctica and learning some survival skills.  The Young Explorers Worsley Weekend runs from the 20th to 21st November in Akaroa.  Here we will do teamwork activities such as raft building, visiting the Akaroa museum and learning lots about Antarctica and Antarctic Explorers. 

We are both so excited about this amazing opportunity and hope lots more Highfield Students apply next year.
