On Thursday most of the year 7 and 8 students were lucky enough to go to Christchurch for National Young Leaders Day - NYLD. We had 5 speakers in total:

William Pike - Who told us about losing a leg to a volcanic eruption and having to re-learn the simple everyday tasks all over again. Then a few years later go back to climb the mountain again, plus climbing many others.

Sam Johnson- Who talked about cleaning Christchurch starting off with a few friends but then a few friends turning into thousands of people then becoming a cooperation.

Georgia Latu - Who talked about starting a poi business that's made from New Zealand and made from recycled materials and she is now the CEO of the worlds largest poi manufacturing company at the age of 15!

Guest speaker Alexandra Davids - She talked about the Christchurch City Council.

Georgia Lines - She talked about when she was growing up she always thought/wanted to be a dentist, but her career path changed when her and her friends entered in a school talent show and she then realized she could sing.

Going there was an amazing experience and I'm glad I got to go.
