Robyn Cooper —

This week we have began learning about statistics for maths, so far we have made graphs for how the class comes to school and what our favorite ice cream flavors are. We are learning to extract information from the graphs and use statements about what the graphs show us.

After attending professional development for maths last week I have come back to school completely excited to get stuck into using Numicon and other resources which support children to play and experiment with numbers. Check out the photos below of a child who used the rods to make a step last week. He ran out of '10's rods but he knew that 8 and 2 make 10 so he used those rods to continue his increasing numbers all the way to 20.

For inquiry we have been learning about 3 parts of the brain and what we need to help our brains to be motivated and healthy.
We have been trying to give our brain small breaks by exercising, dancing, drumming, drinking water and taking deep breaths.

This week we have moved on to 'Ty the Spy' spelling rule. This concept teaches us that words that end with a long 'i' vowel sound are spelt with a 'y'

I have added the words and sentences we will be practicing over the next two weeks and also the 'Stage 2' words and phrases for children needing/wanting a challenge.

As you are probable already aware we have finished swimming at school however next term we will be starting our C-Bay lessons again in week 1 and 2.

Lucky Book clubs came home last week- of you would like to order something, orders need to be in by the 28th March.
