A wee bit late doing this but here is some of our learning from last week. The children are exploring the numicon shapes for maths, being able to fill the board, match and glue the shapes to a template, looking at the "holes" in the shapes and counting them. Some children are ordering numbers up to 20, others have had fun using number stamps with paint. We are also working on fine motor skills as we match coloured pegs to the same coloured paper.
Fun was had watching a bath bomb fizz in the water trough and turn the water purple.
We had the musical instruments out for a jamming session The children loved using the different instruments to make different sounds.
For literacy we are working on recognising our own name and ordering the letters correctly through some matching activities. Some children can recognise the names of all the children in our class and can hand out name cards.
We are also working at sitting while we eat morning tea and lunch, many of our children like to grab something and eat as they go. We have been putting the picnic rug down inside and have tables in a couple of areas to give them a choice of where they sit. This is working well with children starting to eat more at these times and it is also a social time adults and children share together. We are still being flexible for those children who do need to eat at different times of the day.
