Reminder Yr 8 Orientation Day 2025

A reminder that our Year 8 Orientation Day will take place on Tuesday 2nd December 2025 at 9:00am

Hillcrest High School is looking forward to providing an exciting experience for the students to assist with their transition to Year 9 in 2026.

During this Orientation Day students will get the opportunity to meet Staff, Senior Student Leaders and also to discuss school courses and expectations for the new year.

The day will include:

  • A welcome from the Principal Christine Williams, the Year 9 Dean Team and Senior Student Leaders

  • Year 12 Peer Support activities

  • The chance to meet their class and RAPID teacher

  • A range of afternoon activities which highlight various school programmes and courses

Students are not required to wear school uniform; however, they will be involved in some physical activities, so please ensure they are dressed appropriately. There is no expectation for students to bring digital devices, and no school testing will take place during the day. Please note that Hillcrest High School is a phone-free school. Phones should either be left at home or switched off and kept in students’ bags for the duration of the day.

We hope students are prepared with lunch and a water bottle for the day. The school Canteen will be available also to purchase lunch.

The students will meet for the start of the day at 9:00am at the front of school outside the main office. The day will conclude in the school auditorium at 3:00pm.

There will be an opportunity for whānau to attend an optional evening information session on Tuesday 2nd December from 5:30pm - 6:30pm at Berkley Normal Middle School (Performing Arts Centre). It will be an opportunity to ask general questions about the school to the Year 9 Dean and Senior Leadership Team.
